Have you noticed what is going on with Your TV?
a
Back in the Eighties, which isn't that long ago, every fifteen minutes there was three television commercials, and perhaps one public service announcement, which lasted at the most three minutes.
Nowadays, I have noticed that every fifteen minutes there is only five to eight minutes of the television show that I wanted to watch! Basically Speaking, if I want to watch television, I am going to spend half of that time being bombarded by "bad" advertising. Also, most of "those" television shows are in fact very long, and very cleverly disguised television commercials...
I got so fed up (disgusted) being bombarded and violated by "bad" advertising (legalized brain washing) while apparently sitting and relaxing (terrorized) safely in apparently the privacy of my own home, that I turned the advertising weapon off and decided to seek out an alternative. (Have a seat one Saturday morning and check out what your kids are watching. Your jaw will drop right off...)
I started snooping around on the Internet, and to make a long story short, I discovered some amazing material. Picture your Mind like it's a muscle. Here's some exercise for you....

Sir Ken Robinson: Do Schools Kill Creativity
For those of you who aren't yet familiar with TED, after watching this video, you will be. In short, TED is a collection of, as the website states, "Inspired talks by the world's greatest thinkers and doers."
This man's "TED Talk" put a lump in my throat. It is one of the most beautiful speeches I've ever heard...

Jill Bolte Taylor: My Stroke of Insight

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/229

I received a comment the other day from a Woman named, Angela, and she complimented me on how incredible my collection of brilliant minds at work and play is. Without hesitation I can state that if you spend a little time and watch even a few of these interviews, speeches and documentaries, these people will literally change the way you look at yourself, and the people, places, and things around you. She then went on to say that, "However, I counted that you have links to the musings of twenty or so men and only one woman?"

I smiled, and then wrote back saying, "Yes but that woman is Lisa Randall, so in my mind the count is even." It is my honor to provide a link to a TED talk by Jill Bolte Taylor, and I must tell you that as far as I am concerned, the count at this point remains twenty or so to one. Jill is definitely not a man, and definitely not a woman. Dear people, you are about to watch, and listen to an Angel...

Dr. Thomas Barnett: The Pentagon's New Map for War and Peace

Here's another "TED talk" for you. None of these speeches are longer than twenty minutes or so, and yet, you will sit around laughing after, because you'd have to watch television for hours and hours to learn the same amount. The people at TED have compiled a collection of speeches on their Website that are definately ideas worth spreading, and definately worth the time it takes to watch them. I think the best way to to describe this "TED Talk" is to say that Dr. Barnett is going to blow you away! I dare you to only watch this speech once...

Lee Kuan Yew: Singapore's Founding Father

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6249799889543825704

Charlie Rose interviews incredible people, and his definately loud and proud pro-American attitude results in shockingly amazing interviews. This interview opened my eyes. Lee Kuan Yew is an extremely well-educated, extremely intelligent, and an extremely graceful man. His views and opinions on our Global Community are amazingly blunt and honest, and delivered with confidence and grace...

Prince Saud Al-Faisal: Foreign minister of Saudi Arabia

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1856646551476442201

It is very interesting to hear what different people think about us. An opinion from the Middle East, concerning the Middle East, and a Royal opinion concerning the way that the West has been operating in Iraq, is a very good place to start. This interview is a little unnerving, to say the least. You can tell that this man is not used to being interrupted when He is speaking. Nevertheless, if I were to say that nobody knows the back yard better than the guy that lives in it, wouldn't you be inclined to agree?

Edward O. Wilson and James Watson: Discussing Darwin

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-909388381495272999

This is a fun and informative interview. Clearly, these two men are big fans of Charles Darwin, and I think it would be difficult to find two people more qualified to discuss the subject...

Jerry Seinfeld and Steve Martin: Discussing Funny

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3277591800931921113

These two men have been making us laugh for years. Watching them interviewed back to back is incredible. Jerry Seinfeld is very "business man" about comedy. He appears to be a very intelligent and confident man that can look at things in a humorous way. Steve Martin on the other hand, seems almost tragic, and reminds me of Red Skelton. Jerry Seinfeld is the comedian, and Steve Martin is the Clown. Both men are worth their weight in Gold...

This man in Lee Kuan Yew's son. This interview tells me that we should be looking long and hard at what are friends across the pond are up to. This man is to put it without mincing words, sharp as a Ninga Sword...

Former President Bill Clinton: A Look at the World through his eyes

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=866171880367711470

Wow! If you watched the news during His Presidency, you wouldn't think to hear what you'll hear when you watch this interview. Simply put, Bill Clinton is an extremely intelligent man that can express exactly the way he feels about issues and goals that would quickly overwhelm most, if not all of us. Regardless of what you think about this man, this interview is a delight to watch, and if you don't like Bill Clinton, this interview may just change your mind...

When you watch this interview, you will be watching an intelligent, gentle, caring man who is trying to tell us to wake up, and his efforts are those which give us hope. The company where this man works, and is a partner in by the way, KPCB, is investing $200 million in green technologies. Talk about put up or shut up...

Sir Martin Rees: Earth in its final century

http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/42

This eloquent, intelligent man's speech is extremely powerful. You'll know more about the universe, cosmology, and astrophysics than you thought you would ever be interested in. He gracefully marches through the complex leading edge of scientific research, and this man is one of those people that you get smarter just by listening to him. He's been called the new Einstein and Sir Martin finishes with a call to arms, leading the best way; by thoughtful example.

Lisa Randall and Edward O. Wilson: Science and the planet

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-45154219728824809

Lisa Randall is a brilliant, charming woman, talking about concepts that the top minds in physics are just scratching at the surface of in a very clear, and easy to grasp manner. She is a delight to watch. Edward O. Wilson feels that science and religion are the two most influential social forces on the planet, and he wants leaders in these communities to guide us out of the climate crisis. Craig Venter is absolutely convinced that life can exist in the vaccum of space, and once his speech is over, so will you. His research into the building blocks of life are ground-breaking, and is an example of how much potential we humans have. This man is into recycling, and he's very close to turning garbage into gold...

Frontline: Thought-provoking journalism
This is the, "mother-load" so to speak. There are hundreds of hours of extremely high quality videos here. If you start by clicking on the, "explore our video archive" link, you can choose from a wide variety of topics. The Secret History of the Credit Card, the Age of AIDS, and Memory of the Camps get honorable mentions. I recommend that you start watching the older ones first, especially if you're going to watch the stuff on Politics. On the archive page, thre is also a link to Frontline World, and these documentaries are also amazing, to say the very, very least. Stories that will change the way you look at the world...
